Invitation letter to singers for forthcoming concert in November 2009.

Dear all,

This year's St. Edward's Music Society November concert will be an  all-Haydn affair, at 6.30pm on Sunday 15 November at St. Edward's.  It will be run on the same basis as the last few years, with invited adult singers and the Church choirs, professional soloists from The Sixteen and other world class choirs, and professional orchestra.  The standard in the past has been very high and it's really beneficial for the young singers in the Church choirs to experience this sort of performance, often for the first time, so it would be great if as many of you as possible were able to take part.  And do please pass this invitation on to anyone else of an appropriate standard who might be interested.

The all-Haydn programme comprises: Te Deum Empress Marie Therese,  the Nelson Mass and the Surprise Symphony.  Many of you will have sung the Mass before and perhaps the Insanae too, but don't be put off if you haven't - they are pretty straightforward.

All adult singers will pay £15 to sing.  Scores will be available but if you already have your own or if you would like to buy copies, that would help the funds to stretch further.  Please let me know so that we can plan accordingly.

Rehearsals will be as follows:

Monday 5 October 7.30 (sops and trebles), 8.15 (A,T,B), finishing at 9.30

Friday 16 October 8.15 - 9.30

Friday 6 November 8.15 - 9.30

Monday 9 November 7.30 - 9.30

Friday 13 November 7.30 - 9.30

Sunday 15 November 2.00 (orchestra), 3.45 (choir) finishing by 5.15

If you can come to all the rehearsals then please do so, however well you know the music, but please don't rule yourself out if you can't come every time.

I'll send out a reminder after the summer but in the meantime please let me know if you will be joining us for this concert. And please copy Jonathan Venner and James Prior when you reply.

With best wishes,
Martin
